At Uttaranchal University, we recognize that climate change
is an urgent global challenge that demands immediate and sustained action. As part of our
commitment to UN-SDG 13: Climate Action, we actively work to mitigate climate change through
education, research, and sustainable practices.
We integrate climate-related topics into our academic curriculum and promote innovative research
addressing environmental challenges. Our campus initiatives include adopting renewable energy
sources, implementing waste and water management systems, and conducting tree plantation drives
to enhance carbon sequestration. Additionally, we organize workshops, seminars, and awareness
campaigns to educate students and the community on the importance of climate resilience.
By modernizing infrastructure with sustainable technologies, we aim not only to reduce our
carbon footprint but also to create green jobs and foster economic prosperity locally and
globally. These efforts align with our vision to protect the planet while contributing to
sustainable development.
As part of our commitment to sustainability and reducing our carbon footprint, the university has initiated an evaluation of the energy sources utilized across all campuses. This report provides an overview of the current usage of low carbon energy, the progress made towards achieving sustainability targets, and the steps required to increase our reliance on low carbon energy in the future.
